James A. Young
is a founding member and shareholder of Young Scanlan, LLC since 2011. He has over 35 years of experience practicing law in the Tampa Bay area primarily in property and casualty insurance defense litigation, both in private practice and staff counsel where he also served as managing attorney. In addition he has appellate experience in state and federal court in areas of civil litigation and criminal appeals. Mr. Young received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Florida and is a member in good standing of the Florida Bar. He is rated AV-Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell, and is certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a Circuit Court Civil Mediator and as an Appellate Mediator, and is a Florida Supreme Court Qualified Arbitrator.
Robert J. Scanlan - In Memorium
was a founding member and shareholder of Young Scanlan, LLC since 2011. He passed away February 8, 2022. Rob graduated with honors from Florida State University and earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida. A 33-year career as a civil trial attorney turned circuit court mediator and arbitrator, Rob built lasting relationships throughout his practice. He was an active member and past officer of the Hillsborough County Bar Association and a role model and mentor to young lawyers throughout his career. Rob is survived by the love of his life, wife Katie along with their daughters Sarah Kate and Megan who were his true pride and joy, and a large loving family and friends. He will be remembered for his kindness, humor, generosity and faith, as well as his skill and professionalism as an attorney.
